Snowball

How like a snowball you were.
Composed of a million, unique, beautiful elements
All mixed together in a delicate whole.
Your every facet, humor, love, strengths and weaknesses
Frozen for a wonderful, brief period of time.
No matter how treasured, no matter how much protection,
Fated to melt.
But in melting, there is not destruction,
Just transformation.
What was once separated from the ocean of life,
Returns, combining, mixing and adding to the whole.
How sweet it would be to think
When my time to melt arrives
That you would be there, part of me, part of all,
But still unique, the elements intact,
The mom I remember.
