This is a fairly tense and busy weekend for me, but I do want to post a few ideas for future writing ideas that have occurred to me. I've thought about actually reviewing something everyday, a book, a movie, a television show, even non-media related things like food, clothing, or experiences. I love reviewing, though I know on the writing hierarchy it will always be below creating something brand new myself. It's just that there's an expediency to it that I enjoy; no long suffering hours of musing and fussing about what to write, how to do it, etc. The subject I'm writing about has already been written, it's just my job to effectively communicate how I feel about it. The lazy man's writing job!
I also have a short story I have started but is mostly still in my brain. It concerns a young rich man who is in a terrible accident of some sort for weeks and comes out of his coma speaking the name of a girl that no one knows, and when the girl, a waitress, is finally tracked down, she can't understand why he would say her name either. Sounds a bit like a combination of "Citizen Kane" and "The Dead Zone" (all my story ideas end up sounding like echoes of something I've already seen, it's an ongoing problem for me) but I think there's some merit here.
Finally, I have started a story about a cursed family and their struggle to reunite in the face of an impending catastrophe that threatens them all. Kind of like "Dark Shadows" and "The Big Chill" combined, I guess. Damn, there I go again! It's unavoidable, I suppose.
So that's it for today. I hope someone is out there, listening, though at this stage it doesn't seem likely. Perhaps when I start posting on a regular basis, things will change. I hope so, at least.
Best to all,
Michael
